The delegation of the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration visited Hungary to take part in the Ghana-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation meeting. Before the Committee meeting the delegation visited Pureco and held a technical consultation on the drinking and wastewater treatment projects Pureco implemented in Ghana as well as the continuation of the successful professional and business cooperation between the countries.
At the end of the visit, the delegation presented Pureco Ltd with a letter of acknowledge from the Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in recognition of the support given to the Ghanaian students who studied in Ukraine and then and then need to be evacuated.
With the outburst of the Russian-Ukrainian war the Pureco decided to give a helping hand to the refugees and find an organisation to send humanitarian aid collected by all our colleagues.
We were informed on 1st of March that 37 Ghanaian students arrived at Budapest and got transitional assistance from the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC).
In a short term our colleagues reserved a decent hotel for 37 Ghanaian refugees and accompanied them to the place, until that, the first wave of arrivals was accommodated in their own homes by Pureco colleagues.
In the middle of March Ghana's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Thomas Mbomba visited Hungary and together with the Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Ghana to Hungary Mr Boldizsár they went to the PIWC auditorium and to the hotel to show support from both countries, interact with the students and find out how best to assist them during this crisis.
Mr Bálint Horváth leader of the Pureco-Unit Consortium also had a personal talk with the students at the hotel and stressed that Pureco would give all the assistance needed to get back to their normal student life.
Through the Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Ghana to Hungary, Mr. Boldizsár Entz we helped them to organise and buy flight tickets back to Ghana.
During their stay we also organised football championship for the group as well.
From the recent ministerial letter, we were pleased to learn that majority of the students who were supported returned safely to Ghana and are being integrated into the educational system again.
